112 Castlereagh Street. Sydney
The seven storey office building occupied a position adjacent to the David Jones store and typical of many buildings of its era the use of pivot windows had been selected to provide ventilation and ease of cleaning.
Deterioration of the sash gaskets allowed air and water to freely enter the office environment together with traffic noise.
With the cleaning being carried out by rope access method, the need to open and rotate the windows was no longer required. To minimize disruption to the office staff and reduce costs the method of repair was completed by installation of an internal silicone top up to the internal pivot sash gaskets.
